Loaves & Fishes

And taking the five loaves and the two fish, looking up to Heaven, He blessed, and broke the loaves, and giving out to His disciples, that they might set before them. And He divided the two fish to all.
And all ate, and were satisfied.

Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen

On the second Saturday of every month, folks from Calvary Chapel Southbury volunteer time at the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen in New Milford, Connecticut.

At the soup kitchen, volunteers serve up a hot meal, often homemade, along with a smile and a listening ear to all who enter.

A helping hand at the Loaves and Fishes MinistryOur volunteers realize that they are the face of Jesus and the smile to those on the other side of the counter and take that very seriously.  They treat the visitors as paying customers, looking to provide the best service that they can.  People from all walks of life are welcome when mealtime begins at 4:30 p.m.  There is lively conversation as the workers scramble around the kitchen to see that every dinner is served.

Everyone eating a meal at Loaves and Fishes also receives a bag lunch to take with them when they leave. There are lulls in the serving, as the customers ebb and flow, until the last meal is served at 5:30 p.m.

Afterwards, the crew cleans up and heads out, tired but happy, satisfied that they have served Jesus by serving those He loves.

We welcome you to come and serve at the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen. For more information, please email Lea Leclerc.
